Lisa, Have Docs ever mentioned Neurontin (Klonopin)?
Also, strange idea but does eating crunchy food make your ears worse. I feel like mine got aggravated from the internal noise crunching so close to my ear after eating those really crunch kettle potato chips.

Karen, yes i too have been bothered when eating crunchy foods, so that isn't abnormal to me, as in reference to Neurontin, my dr doesn't think that its a good choice for me in particular becasue the Clonazepam (aka klonopin, aka rivotril) has such strong effects on me
But i have heard of many cases where this drug has helped patients.
look more into the drug.. and see what you think, you are your best judge really....
Take Care of you

Hello all, I have now been on both anti-seizure meds Clonazepam (Klonopin) and Trileptal (oxcarbazepine) for 3 months now.
Initially my neurologist just switched me from the Xanax I was taking (for the tinnitus and ear spasms) to the Clonazepam. After about a month it wasn't helping much so he added an anti-seizure drug called Trileptal. That started helping almost right away.
Since that time (about 2 months) I have had almost no popping/clicking/static when hearing external noises! On my third visit he said he believed it was the Trileptal that was helping me and to try to start slowly tapering off the Clonazepam. I am tapering .25mg per dose every 3 weeks. It may take some time but I would rather go slow than to have ANY withdrawl problems. So far so good.
I went from .5mg three times a day to now taking .25mg in the am and afternoon and .5mg in the evening. I figure I'll cut out the p.m. last as it may help me fall asleep anyway.
So this is my update! I only hope I stay this way! Karen
