Does anyone know if you protect your ears with ear plugs in noisy/loud environments can your ears still be damaged through bone conduction hearing?
One reason I ask is that sometimes I go to the Illinois Riverboat Casinos that are very LOUD! I always wear my earplugs before I enter and don't take them out until after I leave. We may stay for 4 hours. Now my ears are protected by plugs but I can still hear surrounding sounds and voices.
Can the bone conduction hearing portion do damage even though my ears are plugged?

I love to go see live bands, and have been wearing ear plugs for about 25 years while going to concerts, clubs etc. I put them in before I go into the venue, and leave them there until I come out. It doesn't seem that my tinnitus has ever gotten worse after any of these shows, and I go to many. Casinos can be very loud, I wouldn't step foot in one without earplugs. IMHO, foam ear plugs correctly inserted should offer adequate protection for most people.
