Well, was back to see the neurologist on last Friday, as my Gp and i had discussed I suggested Neurontin, my Neuroligist Since has suggested and I am trying a Drug Called Toperimate. It is an anti epileptic drug. I am to start at 25mg and continue with my .25 mg of clonazapam 3x a day and weekly increase my dose of the Toperimate (Topimax) 25mg until i have reached a Total of 100mg on the Topimax and then begin slowly decreasing the Clonazepam as my body has already unfortunately become dependant on the drug, although i am not mentally dependant. At this point I am not seeing any siginficant changes, and Nor should I as I am told, just alot of severe drowsyness. The doctor has now increased my disability to the beginning of march and the Neurologist and I are now discussing the option of having an ent inject botox into the stapedius tendon asa temporary measure.
As I do some more research I will let you all know a little more about this procedure.
Thanks So much
Lisa

Lisa, I too had heard about Botox injection into the stapedial muscle and that it lasts about 4 months.
Doc on interenet I was emailing with was a neurologist and said he was not familiar with anyone in the Chicago area that has tried this.
Let me know if you're going to try it. K.

Lisa, I too had my 2nd neurologist visit today. He is also adding a new drug called Trileptal and having me go back to just .5mg of the Clonazepam 3x/day. Says the new drug also causes drowsiness!!!
He does agree that it is myoclonus. Said I should consider returning to the ENT about considering the Botox injections. I will probably put that off til next year and see how the new meds work.
My big question to him re: botox is that how can they be certain that it is the stapedial and not the tensor tympani when injecting Botox. Guess that's a question for the ENT.
Have a good weekend. K.
