I'm here to thank you for your message board, information and support.
I found you on the EZBoard and went to your site and armed with printed information about Stapedial Myoclonus I went to see the Neurologist today.
He seemed to agree that it may be SM! Your description that I printed out was exactly my symptoms and for 3 years I had never heard of this problem.
Thanks to you I now have a name for what is wrong with me and the Dr. has also given me a Rx for Clonazepam. He said this is better than Xanax (which I've been on for 7 months).
I was debating whether to start it this weekend or tomorrow, afraid of drowsiness but he thought I'd be OK since I've been on Xanax. I'm leaning toward tomorrow since the noise has been unbearable this past week. Almost constant!
Thank you again for the info and support. I'll post again to let you know how I'm reacting to the meds and if it helps at all. He said my problem would probably not go away but his goal is to get me at least 50% better so I can manage better.
We'll see how it goes. He said there are other meds to try such as Neurontin and perhaps others. I told him I had been trying muscle relaxants for 3 weeks that didn't do a thing and he wasn't surprised??
